summer '08 fashion.

summer is here.

the latest fashion styles include...

bright colors. stripes. prints. (of course there are way more than that...)

so you can have it your way this summer...pick your bright blues, pinks, yellows, your sailor stripes, or your floral prints. Actually pick all of them and mix and match!
There is no real word for what fashion is happening as we speak...but people tend to call it revival of the 80's, mixed with a bit of a hippie look--mixed with sometimes a modern touch.

see? confusing! no one even knows for sure.

anyway, suggested "must-haves" are as follows-

1. cute and/or flirty summer dress...

2. chic sandals and/or wedges!

3. the right shades, so you can look fierce!

4. the right bathing suit-(and oh how it is a pain to shop for bathing suits!

oh, and if you are stuck on what color to get...just go with a solid color that flatters your skin tone.)

oh leggings!

various definitions of "leggings" (according to urbandictionary haha):
1. these are cute stockings that are a 2006 revival of eighties fashion.
2. Definitely not pants. (supposed to be work-out clothes)

okay so not only are college girls wearing these leggings as pants, but celebs are too!
according to definition number 2, they are meant to be somewhat like undergarments-not everday all-around-town wear.
Yeah, they are a cute revival of 80's fashion...but at least wear them under a skirt or a dress- then you can easily call it a cute outfit.
Whatever you do, please don't wear them alone....and esp. not with a short tee! ew.
Come on ladies-let's not degrade ourselves to work-out-looking styles EVERYDAY.

exhibt b (below): no, no! everything is wrong with the way these leggings are portrayed! not to sound harsh, but she is a model, everyone comes in different shapes, forms, and sizes. In other words, not everyone looks like that when they wear leggings as pants and a tiny tee. So just be on the safe side and don't let all the junk you have in your trunk-literally-hang out and about! please. :)

nike says "just do it", but really...don't.

so there's a new fashion trend (if you can call it that) that is sweeping the nation (or mainly just college campuses).

many girls are strutting around in their nike shorts (see above image).

Okay so "many" is a loose term.

That is besides the point, the point is...whether to class, or just around, girls are wearing these nike shorts....everywhere.

Okay so upon researching, they come in about 40 different colors and they are about thirty dollars a pair.

I know right? About thirty dollars per pair? Whoa.

many girls i know own at least 3 or 4 pairs. That's about 90 dollars on shorts.

That 90 dollars could have gone to better use, no doubt.

I mean who even started this "so-called" trend?

summary:
1. I dont find them fashionable. just because alot of people wear them...doesn't mean it is a fashion, but rather just a group of people conforming.

2. they should not be further expiremented with (i.e. girls who wear the shorts with UGG boots in 90+ degree weather)

3. i understand that people have early classes. what is the really the difference between these shorts and regular shorts? What? That they have these shorts in ever single color possible? Yeah, okay.

So the next time you are browsing for something to wear, just remember that nike shorts and ugg boots are a don't.
