An Embarrassment to Sarahs Everywhere

Educate yourself about Sarah Palin:
(from MoveOn.org )

  • Palin recently said that the war in Iraq is "God's task." She's even admitted she hasn't thought about the war much—just last year she was quoted saying, "I've been so focused on state government, I haven't really focused much on the war in Iraq." 1, 2
  • Palin has actively sought the support of the fringe Alaska Independence Party. Six months ago, Palin told members of the group—who advocate for a vote on secession from the union—to "keep up the good work" and "wished the party luck on what she called its 'inspiring convention.'" 3
  • Palin wants to teach creationism in public schools. She hasn't made clear whether she thinks evolution is a fact.4
  • Palin doesn't believe that humans contribute to global warming. Speaking about climate change, she said, "I'm not one though who would attribute it to being manmade." 5
  • Palin has close ties to Big Oil. Her inauguration was even sponsored by BP. 6
  • Palin is extremely anti-choice. She doesn't even support abortion in the case of rape or incest. 7
  • Palin opposes comprehensive sex-ed in public schools. She's said she will only support abstinence-only approaches. 8
  • As mayor, Palin tried to ban books from the library. Palin asked the library how she might go about banning books because some had inappropriate language in them—shocking the librarian, Mary Ellen Baker. According to Time, "news reports from the time show that Palin had threatened to fire Baker for not giving "full support" to the mayor." 9
  • She DID support the Bridge to Nowhere (before she opposed it). Palin claimed that she said "thanks, but no thanks" to the infamous Bridge to Nowhere. But in 2006, Palin supported the project repeatedly, saying that Alaska should take advantage of earmarks "while our congressional delegation is in a strong position to assist." 10

I think we are all entitled to our own opinions on the topic of politics.I just think it is slightly comical how personal people take political conversations or in my case just saying a name and I have a feeling this was posted for me directly to look at since I'm the only "more conservative than liberal" writing for this blog (If that is a wrong assumption then my apologies). A lot of what is said in this article is slanted. I mean this blog was posted by someone who obviously doesn't like Palin but I seriously don't think she is a bad person. A lot of what has come out in the last few days have everything to do with slanted media stories. She's a Republican not an axe murder. I think people need to chill out on this whole topic of Palin. I think she is a decent person and people should give her a chance. I know McCain is getting old, I understand that aspect of not liking what she has to offer but I have no doubt that she could handle herself in a time of crisis. If McCain doesn't kick the bucket then she won't be doing much in Washington anyways. This article just basically comes down to whether you are a Republican or a Democrat, not whether she is a good candidate for the job because a lot of what was mention here are Conservative views. Practically half the people in this country think the same way or have the same views as her. If you don't like it then don't vote for a Republican.

This post wasn't directed toward anybody. From the stat counter I can tell that people randomly come across it sometimes, so I'm just trying to get some facts out. And besides the title of the article, I don't think there are any opinions in the post, just cited facts.

This is the first time I've posted something related to politics, and have never taken offense when other people post their views.
